We get there north-west across the Bow and up Crowchild Trail from our Mission studio, with hand-tied bouquets same-day, seven days a week: order by 7:59 PM and it goes out today. We take flowers to the front desk — the Admitting and Information desk next to the main entrance. Deliveries don't go into patient care areas at AHS hospitals.

- Recipient phone: the patient’s cell, or a family member’s

Put the child's first and last name under «Who receives the flowers» and a parent's cell under «Recipient phone» — a parent can stay with their child around the clock. In the delivery notes, add the unit (Unit 3, say, or the PICU) and the room number.
About Alberta Children's Hospital
The Children's Hospital is its own building at 28 Oki Dr NW — not part of the Foothills Medical Centre, even though both are next to the University of Calgary. Most inpatient rooms are private, with a bed for one parent, so a compact bouquet that fits on the bedside table works better than a big one.

- If the child is in the PICU or the Edwards Family NICU, ask the unit first what's allowed in the room.
- A teddy bear can be added on any bouquet's page — it travels with the flowers to the front desk.
- Alberta Health Services sites are scent-free and bedside space is limited — a compact bouquet in a vase is easier to keep by the bed than a big, strongly scented one. Skip heavily perfumed flowers such as lilies, and add a vase on the bouquet's page so nobody has to find one on the ward.
- The recipient's phone number is how we reach the patient or their family if the front desk needs more detail — give one that will be answered.
- For a short stay, AHS suggests sending flowers once the patient is home — choose that date at checkout.
- Leave out latex balloons — they're a latex-allergy risk and many hospitals don't allow them.
